Class Action against WEN by Chaz Dean, Inc., headed to mediation

A class action filed in March by consumers of WEN Cleansing Conditioner is headed to mediation less than a year after the first claims were filed in federal court.

The mediation follows the filing of a lawsuit in March in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.  The plaintiffs allege that Chaz Dean, Inc. and Guthy Renker LLC knowingly sold a defective haircare product called the WEN Cleansing Conditioner, and that the product caused permanent and complete baldness in women who purchased and used the product.

Plaintiffs accused these defendants of negligence, false advertising, breach of warranty, and violations of state consumer protection statutes.  To date, consumers in 40 states have attempted to make claims relating to the defective product.
