Federal class action alleges that Cigna Healthcare discriminates against female employees

The suit, brought on behalf of Bretta Karp as putative class representative, seeks "to redress and put an end to continuing, systemic gender discrimination by CIGNA Healthcare, Inc., against its female employees nationwide.  The suit is brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and alleges that Cigna incorporates discriminatory policies, practices and/or procedures in selection, promotion and advancement; disparate pay; differential treatment; and hostility in the workplace.  The plaintiff is represented by Sanford, Wittels & Heisler, LLP, of Washington D.C., and Cohen Kinne Valicenti & Cook LLP of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
